GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: 

Resident Directors (RD) at Pacific University play a pivotal role in creating a supportive and inclusive living-learning environment within the residence halls. Resident Directors combine the principles of student development theory and best practices in student affairs to enhance the residential experience for our students.

Resident Directors are generally appointed for a two-year period, with an opportunity for an extension at the discretion of the Associate Director for Campus Living.

The Resident Director’s (RD’s) position is a 10-month live-on position, running approximately from mid July to mid May. Pacific University provides room and utilities. In addition, the RD is responsible for or assists in at least one Pacific University Student Affairs program area.

The Resident Director is required to live in one of the University’s residence halls in an apartment assigned by the University. A significant other/partner/spouse and/or any child dependents may reside with the employee while the primary employee is current, pending a satisfactory background check on each individual. While the RD is within the two year appointment, they are able to continue living in the apartment from during the break in work schedule over the summer.
